I first watched it at regular speed and thought that was a good play he stepped so he had separation of the feet and direction to first. Then I went upstairs(so to speak) and went to video review. I stopped and started the video about 5 times to see if he went more to home than 1st..upon further review the pitcher stepped toward first and threw. Even when you look at his body positioning as he throws the ball his shoulders and chest are square to 1st base. The other thing that also told me this play was OK...NO ONE says anything about it. Not the player, 1st base coach, or the announcers (not that they really count) so I will go with my 1st instinct..No Balk.
